Start by signing up for an account on hstry.co. Class codes are available here.
Next, save each of the images from the gallery below to your iPad or computer. Your objective is to pair the images, captions, and dates in the correct order with your efforts culminating in a digital visual timeline created on hstry.co. Analyze the photographs you have saved. What do you see? What do you recognize? What prior knowledge do you have about each of them? You may be familiar with some of the events while others will require some extraneous research.
Follow this by reading each of the captions. Some of the captions will easily be matched with an image while others may be a bit more difficult. What does the caption say? What is happening? Are there any that clearly match with a photo? If so, use the internet to figure out a date and match it with one of the dates provided.

Your final product, the hstry.co timeline, will be graded on the following criteria:
- Each image correctly captioned and chronologically placed on the timeline will earn you 4 points for a total of 100 points.
- You must then select two other events relevant to WWII not represented by the timeline. You can search for a photograph, YouTube video, or other primary source to represent them on the timeline. You will provide a date and caption for these two events. Each of these will be worth 12.5 points for a total of 25 points.
- You must also provide a banner and cover photo, a title, and a brief summary (introduction) under your title which provides two to three sentences of context introducing the events on your timeline. Your sentences should address what is happening in history, how has America responded, and ultimately, what were the consequences of the events presented on your timeline. Your banner and cover photo, title, and introduction are worth another 25 points.
- The total project is worth 150 points and is due via Edmodo no later than Thursday, February 11, 2016.
- You will have two days to work on the timeline in class.
