Who is Dr. Flynn?
Hello! My name is Timothy Flynn and I am the Advanced Studies Program Specialist for Orange County Public Schools supporting Advanced Placement, Cambridge AICE, International Baccalaureate, and AVID programs and teachers in 13 elementary schools, 21 middle schools, and 20 high schools. Previous to this, I taught Regular, Honors, and Advanced Placement United States History at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida. I have a real passion for inquiry, critical thinking, and open-mindedness for perspective; all of which are integral to a successful navigation of any curriculum, advanced or otherwise.
I grew up in Southwest Florida, graduating from Cape Coral High School in a year still to be determined. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science as well as a Master’s of Education from the University of Central Florida. In August of 2016, I graduated with my Doctor of Education from the University of Central Florida with a research focus on the transition into ninth-grade.
One of my favorite historians, H. W. Brands says of history that “History is a story… in fact, it is the best story I can think of.” Through this course, you will be exposed to the fascinating story that is the history of the United States. Our journey will cover the social, economic, and political changes and continuities throughout United States History, from the arguments for and against a Constitution to the rise of the Reagan led Conservative movement in the 1980s. I hope you're ready for a rigorous survey of history unlike any other you've experienced before!
When I'm not teaching, I'm reading, writing, trying to keep up with current events, rooting for the Seminoles, and spending time with my new wife.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to Contact Me. Links to Twitter and E-mail can be found at the top of this page. I can be reached directly via my office extention at 407-317-3200 ext. 2002716.
